The Adventure Begins

The Adventure
It took two flights, four movies and 16.5 hours of flying but finally I've arrived.

The Uncle called me up that morning warning me that it would be a long flight and that I should try and sleep as much as I could, so I braced myself for a flight from hell. I've never been a fan of being in an airplane but thanks to an Angel Reading three years ago, that fear has died down and now I'm able to enjoy a flight without singing Amazing Grace for the entire duration.
The first flight left me with enough time to get munchies and soon I had decided that I'd start the line, you know, be one of the first to get on the plane and what not, but alas, with Emirates it doesn't work that way. After being at the head of the line, I was forced to go to the back because I was one of the few passengers boarding last. The joy.

Finally on board the plane and too tired to argue with the people in my seat, I found a spot and got comfortable. The screens in this airplane weren't what I was use to in my Mauritius trip last month and so I hesitated and looked around wide eyed to find someone better educated at this long distance flying thing than I was. Eventually, after figuring out  how to pick which movies to watch, I got my mini-bottle of white wine and relaxed. It wasn't until the last two hours of the first flight that the nausea hit.

I hate motion sickness.

We landed in Dubai at 01:45am (Dubai time) and I didn't even get a chance to look at anything around me. I literally latched onto a family that consisted of two babies and we ran towards our next gate, we made it just in time to show our tickets and get onto the next plane. Not ideal for someone who needed a break from motion sickness.
After being asked to give up my aisle seat for a middle seat, I eventually settled down and decided to sleep the sickness away. It didn't help. I spent the rest of the 7 hours on the way to London with my eyes firmly shut and with no sympathy for the old mans shoulder which I was happily drooling on.

Thanks to the seat that I had given up, I was able to see London from above and it got me excited because the entire land is coated with quaint and classy old buildings that reek sophistication and history. I landed in Heathrow Airport where The Uncle picked me up and now, I'm spending my first day in London recovering from motion sickness and getting ready for a adventures mapped out for me.
