One Night In Cape Town

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be included in the hype of the One Night in Cape Town event that happened at Grand West Casino.

Not knowing what to expect - literally - I went dressed in bright blue pants with purple shoes and a top to 'match', so in other words, I went dressed as a complete hippy. Cartmen would've been proud.

Those who don't know - THIS is Cartmen.
The bands were amazing.

I went for a walk while van Coke Kartel were playing - the worst band ever, no wonder they were opening up for the other bands.

Enter Shikari came up next and I don't have much to say about them, except that I hated them. I tried to stay and listen to more than 2 songs and I even tried dancing to some of their tracks, but they definitely weren't singing my song. Guess this band is for the select few with very unique taste, who can appreciate that which us dull folk can't.

The KONGOS were on next and thanks to the beautiful Jess Beth, I knew them already and could appreciate their awesomeness.

The band that eventually got me off the cold floor though, was Eagles of Death Metal - what a unique band with an incredible stage atmosphere. Not to mention the lead singer has the crudest Rock 'n Roll way of saying anything, that my already crude side lit up at the delight of being educated.
Very cool band and the utmost reason for my happiness that night - I discovered a new band. Win!

Next up was Seether, which I'm sorry to say, drained the last of my energy. Everyone was so excited for them and I'd been hyped up to hear their songs and see them perform and it took everything in me NOT to fall asleep while standing. The entire hour of their set was spent in the dark, listening to music that brought out a lighter and a swaying motion in the crowd.
Not impressed.

Then.

Then.

Cape Town was blessed to the orgasmic sounds of Bullet for my Valentine. The band that made the night worth the stay.
They were loud, they were obnoxious, they were alive and they were attaching strings of electric energy into the crowd. I couldn't believe how the crowd awakened to their voices.

All in all I had a great night and it was totally worth it.

Thanks to Richard Kuiper for making it all worth while and possible, it was fun thanks to you!
