Be a Hero

I've always been one of those people who have included the homeless in my thoughts and prayers, not because I want the extra glory but because if the situation were reversed I'd want someone to think of and pray for me.

More and more people are losing their homes, loved ones, ways of making money and their basic survival skills - especially with Winter clasping it's icy fingers tight against their throats. While we are lucky enough to have heaters, extra clothes to put on, blankets and even warm tea to help chase that Winter chill away, there are homeless people who have nothing but the clothes on their backs and possibly only one friend (if they're that lucky) to snuggle up to for warmth. While we are dry and watch the rain crash down outside, we need to remember that they are sitting outside in the rain freezing with nothing for protection.

Let's make a difference today by donating one (old or new) blanket to those who really need it.

All Tweeters who take part in this will be meeting at a coffee shop in a city near you for the first National TweetUp. It's a great time to do the right thing, to meet fellow Tweeters over a cuppa coffee and for all photographers to show off their work by snapping pics and sending them through to photo@twitterblanketdrive.co.za .

Find out which coffee shop this is happening at in your area by clicking HERE - if your area isn't found, then you can arrange with Twitter to host this event at a coffee shop near you.

All Cape Town Tweeters - this event will take place at NewsCafe at Artscape on 4 June 2011 at 16.30 and our host is @alambchop
